The Pastoral Council is a selected number of parishioners who, by sharing their gifts and talents, work with the pastor to enable him to extend his own pastoral ministry. They offer the pastor aid, support, and advice on any matter he wishes to bring before them by making practical recommendations that are made through a process of investigation and reflection.
The councilors offer the Pastor consultation regarding the focus, guidance and monitoring of the Parish’s ministries. The aim of the pastoral council is one of pastoral planning that fosters the activity of the parish so that it more closely conforms to that of the message of the Gospel and to assist in the parish’s apostolic work.
A councilors term is three years and two terms are possible. We meet in the evening the third Thursday of every month.
Hi, my name is Lissie Bloom. I have been raised in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and have served the church community through various activities. You might know me best for my involvement with youth ministry, teaching confirmation classes, and leadership with Mesa Catholic Campus Ministry. I also work for the church by managing the nursery. After serving with NET Ministries (a youth focused Catholic ministry), I returned to Grand Junction where I now attend and work for Colorado Mesa University. I am currently in my student teaching phase of the education program at Fruita Monument High School. I will graduate in December 2016 with my degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis on Social Studies. Because of my church involvement, I have been given the responsibility of representing the voices of the youth on the Parish Council. Beyond loving Jesus and doing His works, my passions are adventuring, collecting comic books, creating art, gardening, and bike riding. Please contact me at email@example.com or by calling 970-986-9610. God Bless!
